Endoscopy service at Weston General receives JAG accreditation

Last updated: 07/10/2025

Weston General Hospital’s (WGH) endoscopy service has once again been awarded JAG (Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy) accreditation after meeting all the required accreditation standards for patient care and safety.

The team was commended for the high standard of achievement, and for their hard work during the accreditation process.

Bristol NHS Group Chief Executive, Maria Kane, said: “This accreditation confirms the excellent endoscopy service our patients can expect in Weston-super-Mare, and reflects our commitment for Weston General Hospital as a thriving hospital at the heart of the local community. My congratulations to everyone involved.”

The endoscopy service at Weston General Hospital is part of UHBW’s Division of Surgery. It first received JAG accreditation in 2018 following significant investment to refurbish the unit, and has successfully met accreditation standards every year since.

WGH's hospital director, Judith Hernandez del Pino, said: “The endoscopy service at Weston General is a great example of specialist services being provided in the local community. The team works tirelessly to deliver high-quality patient care, and receiving accreditation once again is well-deserved recognition of their dedication.”
