Health Matters Events

Last updated: 01/04/2020

Health Matters is the Trust's programme of public information and engagement events for Foundation Trust members, staff, and members of the public. The aim of these events is to raise awareness of projects and teams in UHBW, and celebrate the amazing work going on. They can also be used to gain an insight into our Foundation Member's thoughts on certain projects and get feedback on plans for the future of UHBW. Events are held both online or face-to-face, and can be held any time of the day or evening and are attended by the Council of Governors as another way for Foundation Trust Members to speak to the Governors and raise issues or even compliments about the Trust.

The events are run by the Corporate Governance Team, who have a wealth of knowledge in running these events and engaging with the public. If you have any suggestions for topics please let us know by emailing foundationtrust@uhbw.nhs.uk.

Health Matters: Supporting The Patient Journey Through Creativity

The Corporate Governance Team held their first Health Matters Event of 2024 on Thursday 18th April, where they were joined by the UHBW Arts & Culture team. The evening included a welcome from the Arts and Culture Executive Champion, Neil Kemsley, as well as a talk from Frances Macadam, Head of Arts Programme, on the programme, the funding and some of the successes the team had experienced. After the talk, the UHBW Staff Choir sang three songs, including involvement from the audience in their third song! All before the audience were given the opportunity to try out some of the activities the Arts and Culture team bring to patients and staff in the hospital. There was origami, watercolour painting, poetry and creative crafting, as well as videos to watch on Dancing for Dementia, the Arts Trail in Weston-Super-Mare and even a chance to listen to some music and relax! The evening was a great success and the Corporate Governance Team look forward to holding future Health Matters Events in 2024 which all members will be invited to.
