Bristol NHS Group awarded 'Green' in the NHSE Provider Capability Rankings

Last updated: 07/05/2026

North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) and University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW), which form Bristol NHS Group, have been awarded ‘Green’ in the Provider Capability rankings for this quarter by NHS England.

A ‘Green’ ranking confirms that there is high confidence in the trusts’ ability to deliver on its priorities based on performance over the past 12–24 months, with no concerns evident from that performance.

Between August and October 2025, all NHS trusts and Foundation trusts carried out a self-assessment, measuring criteria in areas including Strategy and Planning, Quality of Care, People and Culture, Access, Productivity, and Finance.

After submitting the self-assessments to regional NHS teams, the findings were ratified and a ‘Green’ rating was awarded.

Maria Kane, Chief Executive of Bristol NHS Group, said: “As we move closer to merging our two organisations, this ‘Green’ rating recognises our commitment to delivering on our ambitions to provide seamless and sustainable joined-up care for the populations we serve and the public purse.

"I want to thank our clinical colleagues for their commitment to exceptional patient care day in, day out. This ‘Green’ ranking is a result of that ongoing hard work.”
