UHBW shares Clinical Strategy 2025-2030

Published today, 13 November 2024, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust’s (UHBW) Clinical Strategy 2025-2030 sets out the Trust’s ambitious plans to build and grow services and pathways that meet the needs of patients and communities now and into the future.

Developed by clinicians in collaboration with local healthcare partners, the UHBW strategy will aim to achieve its mission to advance the health and wellbeing of our communities by:

  • Working in partnership to strengthen our clinical services, to deliver high quality care to all now and into the future.
  • Designing future clinical services with our communities, increasing equity and improving the health of our local and regional population.
  • Driving innovation and being bold in its ambition to pioneer new standards.
  • Delivering the benefits of the Healthy Weston vision to be a strong and dynamic hospital, at the heart of the community.

UHBW’s clinical strategy supports and shares the vision set out in its Joint Clinical Strategy with NBT to provide ‘seamless, high quality, equitable and sustainable care’ across all services. It sets out the ways in which clinical services will need to adapt over the next 5 years and beyond, to meet the increasing and different needs of the local population and to tackle the significant healthcare inequalities that exist in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Professor Stuart Walker, Hospital Managing Director, UHBW said: “At UHBW, we exist to make a difference that matters to the lives we touch. Local partners and clinical colleagues across the organisation have told us what matters to them, and this strategy will meet those needs by getting the basics right, supporting our amazing workforce and having the physical and digital infrastructure in place to deliver high quality, integrated care to the people and communities we serve.”

Dr Rebecca Maxwell, Chief Medical Officer, UHBW said: “Our clinical strategy sets out our ambition to support innovation and excellence at every opportunity. Building on our strengths in cancer care, cardiac services and in the care of children, along with excellence in the wide range of core services we provide, we are committed to developing both our specialist and general services.

Professor Deirdre Fowler, Chief Nurse and Midwife, UHBW said: “Our patients are at the heart of everything we do at UHBW. Through this strategy, we’re committed to providing the highest standard of care,  improving access and outcomes, tackling health inequalities and working closely with our communities and partners to develop services that meet their needs.”
