UHBW Receives Gold Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Award
Last updated: 23/08/2024
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) has become one of the latest NHS trusts to be awarded Gold by the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, formally recognising our commitment to the armed forces community.
The gold award recognises the positive role that our Trust plays in supporting defence and inspiring others to do the same.
The award shows that we have been a powerful advocate for the Armed Forces Covenant, which is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve, or who have served, in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
Emma Wood, Chief People Officer and Deputy Chief Executive, University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust said:
“I’m delighted that UHBW has been awarded Gold by the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. My colleagues and I are proud to support the essential work of our Armed Forces and recognise the important connections and opportunities for collaboration with the NHS.
“Thank you to my colleagues who have a reservist role alongside their work at UHBW. Your commitment and dedication to public service is outstanding. I would also like to recognise the work of colleagues at UHBW who do so much to support Forces personnel into a career in health care, the development of young people locally, and Veterans, both in our care and working for us.
“I look forward to building on the success of our Gold award and the important relationship we have and the work we do with our Armed Forces colleagues.”
