Still time to have your say on plans for Weston General Hospital

An eight-week public discussion on ambitious plans for Weston General Hospital draws to a close on 14 August – but there’s still time for people to have their say.

The plans set out how Weston General Hospital wants to:

• become a centre of surgical excellence. This means thousands more planned operations for adults of all ages will be carried out at Weston General Hospital
• become a centre of excellence for older people’s care. This means the hospital will provide more specialised care for older people, as well as a wide range of services for people of all ages
• help more people go home quickly after going to hospital in an emergency. The hospital will have a dedicated unit for assessing and treating people quickly

Doctors, nurses and other health professionals worked with the public and staff to draw up the plans, which aim to secure a bright future for Weston as a thriving hospital at the heart of the local community.

And over the last two months, they have been asking members of the public to help turn the plans into action, via an online survey and a range of face-to-face engagement events.

Weston General Hospital Medical Director Dr Andrew Hollowood said: “We’re grateful to everyone who’s taken the time to share their views about these ambitious plans.

“During the last eight weeks we’ve met lots of people and had a range of feedback, ideas and suggestions which will be invaluable as we test and refine the plans.

“The engagement exercise draws to a close on Sunday 14 August but there’s still time to have your say via our online survey.”
