Terrell Street entrance to BRI and BRHC re-opens after temporary closure

Following the successful completion of works on our new heating and energy system, the Terrell Street entrance to the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children reopened at midday today (23 August 2021).

This new heating and energy system will dramatically cut carbon emissions at Bristol’s city centre hospitals and increase resilience.

The drop-off and disabled parking between the BRI and BRHC is available again, as is the drop-off parking at the front of the main BRI building on Upper Maudlin Street.

Following the completion of the works we will no longer have traffic wardens in place at the entrance to Terrell Street, and ambulances, emergency vehicles and those being taken to hospital in an emergency will continue to be able to arrive at the front of the hospitals.

The alternative drop-off and disabled parking arrangements will no longer be in place, but you will still be able to use the Bristol Heart Institute Level 5 drop-off and disabled parking bays if these are convenient for your needs.

We thank you for your patience during this temporary closure and apologise for any disruption which was caused by these works.

If you are travelling to our hospitals, please be aware that a section of St Michael’s Hill will be temporarily closed to vehicles from its junction with Perry Road/Upper Maudlin Street to just south of its junction with Horfield Road. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
